Centre-back to turn down Manchester United move this summer: report

Manchester United have been linked with an emotional move to bring back one of their formers players, Michael Keane this summer. However, that move was obviously cast into doubt when the club announced that a move for Victor Lindelof was in place.

Now, The Sun are claiming that the Englishman is set to turn down any approaches from the Old Trafford club, in order to keep his place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad – which takes place next summer.

The report claims that Jose Mourinho still wants Keane back at United despite the arrival of Lindelof, but the 24-year-old will reject his former employers, which would be a brave decision to make.

Understandably though, playing time would be hard to come by, given the brilliant form of Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo last term coupled with the aforementioned point that the club have already added a centre-half.

This wouldn’t have been an easy decision to make for Keane and you have to respect his choice. Burnley has been an excellent place for him to ply his trade and no doubt he is now a better player because of that.

I’m a huge fan of his, but perhaps it is best for him to remain at Turf Moor for another season or so, further allowing him to develop as a player before he considers a move to one of the Premier League’s so-called ‘big boys’.
