Manchester United Football Club are in desperate need of a new striker before the new season starts, and one man the club have been linked with is Alvaro Morata of Real Madrid.
The striker, 24, was left out of Zinedine Zidane’s Champions League starting XI, and now, you get the feeling that he is prepared to walk out on Madrid and move elsewhere.
Obviously, United would be the perfect fit for him, but his current club President, Florentino Perez, has claimed that there has been no offer made for Morata – as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez.
“We haven’t received offers for anyone this summer.” Florentino Perez told Onda Cero, as per The Sun.
“Not Cristiano, not Morata — not James [Rodriguez].”
This spells bad news to me. This rumour has been flying around for weeks, and the fact that Perez has claimed they’ve had no offer at all for the striker leads me to question whether United are even interested in the Spaniard.
Morata found the back of the net on 20 occasions last year which is a mightily impressive return when you factor in that he was probably third choice behind both the aforementioned Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. If you make him your star and give him plenty of chances, he could become one of the most prolific in the league.
For me, we should just pay whatever it takes to get him here and after Mourinho has worked his managerial magic, we may well have a real star on our hands.
