Manchester United take on Liverpool this Sunday, in a huge Premier League encounter. Despite the Old Trafford club’s dodgy form this term, there’s still no bigger fixture on the English football calendar.
In the build-up to the clash, we’ve seen some dodgy combined XI’s doing the rounds, most notably from former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique who chose not to include one United player in his…
Combined XI’s isn’t something we usually do at Old Trafford Faithful, but for this one, we made an exception. We’re sick of seeing the usual bias rubbish, so we decided to get in on the fun and look at this one from an impartial perspective.
First and foremost, this is just for fun so take it all with a pinch of salt. Also Reds, I think we all understand that Liverpool are the better team right now so do expect this XI to be dominated by our scouse rivals…
We’ve gone for David de Gea in goal. Alright, I get that Alisson is the new kid on the block and our Spaniard has made a few mistakes recently, but longevity always has to play a role. De Gea has been amongst the best in the business for the last half-decade. He deserves his spot in the team. No questions asked.
The second Red Devil is Harry Maguire. Honestly, keep your Joel Matip and give me Slabhead every single time. Quite frankly, I find it insulting that people were actually putting the Liverpool man in ahead of our new defensive stalwart. That’s all that’s left to say on the matter.
Finally, (yes, we can only find spots for three United players in this team) we have Paul Pogba. Fine, he has been hit and miss during his time in Manchester, but stop it with this Georginio Wijnaldum > Pogba stuff. It’s embarrassing really. On pure talent alone, our Frenchman gets in every single time (and I don’t even like the guy all that much).
The rest of the team pretty much picks itself and that’s all there is to it, unfortunately. Who knows, perhaps we could pull something special out of the bag this Sunday? I’m not confident right now, mind…
Anyway, in something more usual, check out our predicted United starting XI for the game. I can assure you that this one does include eleven Red Devils…
