Manchester United’s Carabao Cup campaign begins this evening, with a home game against Derby County; managed by none other than Frank Lampard.
The Red Devils won this tournament during Jose Mourinho’s first season at the helm. I always think it’s an immensely underrated tournament to go and lift – as from February onwards, it can really kickstart your title charge.
Anyway, the line-ups are in for the third-round clash – and the self-proclaimed Special One has certainly rung the changes.

In goal, Sergio Romero makes his first start of the campaign. Then comes the big news, Diogo Dalot starts at right-back, as he’ll make his first start at Old Trafford. Ashley Young plays opposite the young man from Portugal, with the back two changing – as Phil Jones and Eric Bailly come into the line-up.
Fresh off his suspension, Nemanja Matic gets the nod, with Ander Herrera playing alongside the Serbian. My guess would be that just in front of them is where Juan Mata will sit.
Romelu Lukaku needs a confidence-booster after a poor showing on Saturday. He leads the line, with Anthony Martial to his left and Jesse Lingard on his right. That’s a real speedy front three with huge potential. Hopefully, the boys can get the job done.
