Manchester United Football Club go head-to-head with Celta Vigo this evening, as the Red Devils look to earn a place in the Europa League final which takes place at the end of the month. The team news for the first leg is in, and as expected, Jose Mourinho has picked a strong side.
As per usual, Sergio Romero will remain the goalkeeper after some excellent performances throughout the competition this term. I’m pleased that the manager has chosen to stick with the Argentine.
Now onto the back four, it looks pretty strong all things considered. Antonio Valencia will play as the right-back, with the stern Matteo Darmian on the opposite side. Eric Bailly has overcome an injury scare to start at the heart of the defence alongside Daley Blind.
Paul Pogba is back! The Frenchman starts in the middle of the field alongside both Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini. It makes sense to pack the midfield, particuarly for the away leg.
Mourinho has picked a front three that contains full of dynamism and pace. Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan get the nod in favour of Ashley Young and Anthony Martial, who are on the bench. Marcus Rashford leads the line.
Romero, Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Darmian; Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Fellaini, Mkhitaryan; Rashford.
Subs: De Gea, Mata, Rooney, Martial, Smalling, Carrick, Young.
