Manchester United’s biggest match of the season is fast approaching, with FC Barcelona in between the Red Devils and a place in the Champions League last four.
All the talk pre-match has been about who’ll be fit and who won’t be, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his starting line-up; and it’s one that contains a few surprises.
Obviously, David de Gea starts in goal and we’re going to need an absolutely outstanding game from the best goalkeeper in the world. Tonight, he has a chance to cement his legacy.
Fresh from being rested at the weekend, Victor Lindelof starts at centre-back alongside Chris Smalling. Then comes the reshuffle, Luke Shaw is suspended so Ashley Young shifts to left-back while Phil Jones fills in on the right… This is concerning to say the least.
Scott McTominay was rested last time out so he’ll be looking to have another outstanding outing. Fred has been in much better form recently and he’ll play, while Paul Pogba starts. We’re going to need an out of this world performance from him.
Jesse Lingard starts in the #10 role just behind a two-striker setup of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. That pace and creativity, particularly on the counter-attack, could be crucial.
