Confirmed Starting XI: Manchester United vs Brighton – Mata starts

Manchester United Football Club takes on Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford this evening, with a place in an FA Cup semi-final on the line.

Jose Mourinho’s men will be looking to put the Sevilla horror-show well and truly behind him, and this home game against Chris Hughton’s side gives us the perfect opportunity to right some wrongs.

Anyway, the starting line-up has been confirmed by the manager, and there is certainly a surprise or two in terms of team selection.

The first thing of note is that both Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez will start this one on the bench. In all honesty, it has been coming. Their form has been nothing short of woeful recently and they deserve to be benched.

It’s nice to see both Juan Mata and Scott McTominay come back into the side. I’ll never understand the decision to bench these two against Sevilla, but they simply had to start tonight.

There is also a spot in the team for Anthony Martial who has been missing with injury recently. Luke Shaw gets his big opportunity, too. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Englishman can take his chance.
