Confirmed Starting XI: Manchester United vs Everton – Wayne Rooney testimonial

Wayne Rooney has given this football club ten plus years of tremendous service so far, and our current captain and number ten is close to becoming the top goalscorer in the history of Manchester United. Today, he celebrates his successes with his testimonial match.

The opponents are his boyhood side Everton, with Jose Mourinho hoping for success in his first game as managing Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Understandably, Wayne Rooney starts in his favoured #10 role, and he’ll have pace galore either side of him in Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial. Zlatan Ibrahimovic starts up front for his Old Trafford bow.

The rest of the team is made up by familiar faces like Antonio Valencia, Daley Blind and Michael Carrick. All-in-all, this is a final chance for these lads to force their way into Mourinho’s Community Shield starting line-up.

Check out the starting XI here:

De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Herrera, Lingard; Rooney, Martial; Ibrahimović.

Subs: Johnstone, Romero, Darmian, Jones, Rojo, Fellaini, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Schneiderlin, Young, Memphis, Rashford.
