Manchester United take on Real Madrid in Skopje, Macedonia this evening, with the UEFA Super Cup on offer for the winner. Jose Mourinho will be desperate to start his second season in charge with a trophy under his belt, and the opposition couldn’t get any tougher.
Ahead of the match, the self-proclaimed Special One has named his starting line-up, and, as expected, he has gone as strong as possible.
David de Gea starts in goal, with Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling making up the centre-back pairing, as Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are both suspended.
Nemanja Matic is included and he’ll offer some extra protection to the back four, whilst also allowing Paul Pogba to play further up the field in a more advanced position.
Romelu Lukaku also gets a start, and he’ll have Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard creating the opportunities for him.
De Gea; Valencia, Lindelof, Smalling, Darmian; Matic, Herrera, Pogba; Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku.

On top of the strong starting line-up, we also have an explosive bench to call upon if things aren’t going to plan. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are named amongst the subs, as are Juan Mata, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
Whilst we’re on the subject of team news, Gareth Bale does start for Real Madrid, so that probably puts that rumour to bed; for now anyway…
