Manchester United take on Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round this afternoon, with Jose Mourinho’s men aiming to progress in a comfortable manner. As expected, the boss has rung the changes for this one, to give some squad and rotational players a chance to prove their worth.
The self-proclaimed Special One has kept to his word and started with both Sergio Romero and Anthony Martial; both of whom will be keen to send out a real message to the manager, particularly the latter.
As a whole, our line-up should have more than enough to overcome Warren Joyce’s improving Wigan Athletic team, and if not, there is firepower that can come from off of the bench to try and turn the match in our favour.
You can see that the boss does have one eye on United’s midweek game against Hull City, and you can understand some of the tactical decisions made with that in mind.
Starting XI
Romero, Fosu-Mensa, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Fellaini, Schweinsteiger, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Martial, Rooney.
Subs: Pereira, Blind, Tuanzebe, Herrera, Young, Ibrahimovic, Rashford.
