Manchester United’s biggest game of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era is here. The Red Devils are looking to maintain their 100% record under the Baby Faced Assassin, but this is, without question, their toughest test.
The game itself is an intriguing one and no doubt the questions about who the permanent manager should be will only grow after this one. I’m going to put my neck out on the line and say that the next Red Devils manager will be at Wembley Stadium today…
All jokes aside, let’s delve straight into the starting XI, which United’s official Twitter has now confirmed.
In goal, David de Gea will play. With the mini defensive injury crisis which is happening at the moment, the back four pretty much picks itself. From right to left, Ashley Young plays, as does Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof. Luke Shaw makes up the defence.
Nemanja Matic’s job will be to sit in and protect the men in behind him. He’ll have his hands full with Spurs’ supremely talented attackers. Ander Herrera will be tasked with bringing the energy and spark to the midfield, while Paul Pogba’s job will be to create chances and carve out openings.
Soslkjaer has opted for sheer pace up front. Marcus Rashford starts through the middle. He’ll have Jesse Lingard to his right who’s movement will be key, while we all know that Anthony Martial loves a big-game goal.
