Manchester United and their fans have been calling for a Cristiano Ronaldo return to Old Trafford in a permanent basis, but as he is now approaching the latter end of his professional playing career, it looks as though that move could well be off the cards.
However the Portugal international could well make one final appearance for Manchester United – In Wayne Rooney’s testimonial next summer.
The England international has announced that Rooney will have a special match at old Trafford before next season, with a whole host of former United greats looking likely to play.
Rooney will have been at the club twelve years by the time his testimonial comes around, and alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, there could be United greats like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and pretty much every member of the Class of 92. The game will be held on August 3rd, 2016.
