The footballing world was shook last night when we learned that Sir Alex Ferguson was seriously ill in hospital.
Manchester United’s greatest ever manager underwent an emergency surgery procedure for a brain haemorrhage, the club announced.
As you’d imagine, the messages of goodwill and support have been pouring in. The latest to share their thoughts was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal international took to Twitter to tell ‘The Boss’ to remain strong and keep fighting; it’s a message that’ll be echoed by absolutely everyone, no matter which team they support.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, my dear friend. Be strong, Boss! pic.twitter.com/kmih28Xpsq

Thankfully, United’s announcement seemed like a positive update, confirming that the procedure had in fact gone well, with Sir Alex needing an extended period of rest to get back to full health.
It’s brilliant to see arguably the greatest player in history send his support to the man whom he owes so much to; and that’s why Ronaldo will always be loved and cherished amongst the Old Trafford faithful.
Not only is he a world-class athlete, but he’s an outstanding individual off the field. We’re lucky to have witnessed him perform wonders on the pitch in Red Devils colours, and this latest gesture only reaffirms that.
