At this point, we’re already getting bored with the forever-changing story surrounding Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s proposed move to Manchester United.
Earlier today, we covered a story from the Evening Standard which claimed that the Red Devils had offered £25million for the 21-year-old – although Crystal Palace were holding out for ‘at least £50million’ to let Wan-Bissaka leave.
Now, The Independent have given us another update on the future of the talented right-back. They say that United have identified Wan-Bissaka as a ‘key signing this summer’ – although Palace are under no pressure to sell and they’ll demand a fee over £70million before they’re even tempted into parting with their prized asset.
That could be a problem as the Reds were hoping to complete the deal for ‘£40million at most’ – which is a figure that now looks way off the mark.
It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out. Palace are trying something similar with Wilfried Zaha as they look to deter potential suitors away from their top players. The report does say that United will ‘continue with their pursuit’ but I’d be surprised if they’d pay anything more than £50million at this stage and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will likely have to shop elsewhere.
