Daley Blind not expected to return from injury before Christmas

Manchester United keep on marching on! The lads picked up their fourth win in a row at home to Stoke City last night, without star players Angel di Maria and Wayne Rooney featuring whatsoever. The 2-1 result was hard-fought, with Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata getting the goals, separated by an excellent strike by Stoke’s Steven N’Zonzi.

Louis van Gaal was quizzed about various topics in his post-match interview, one of which was the fitness of Daley Blind. The Dutchman responded by saying that he doesn’t expect his fellow countryman to feature again before Christmas, but he could return early on in the New Year if things go to plan.

Whilst its a big blow, our next fixtures look very manageable on paper without the Dutch midfielder. Yes, it’d be nice to have Blind available for selection right now, but we have no huge games coming up before Christmas [Liverpool aside], and we should be able to cope without him for the next month.
