Daniel James namedrops Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the ‘hardest’ defender he’s ever faced

Manchester United have made five astute signings under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Credit where it’s due, the Baby Faced Assassin has been brilliant in the transfer market.

The Red Devils squad is slowly but surely taking shape, with United definitely moving in the right direction. This term, our team has been built upon having a solid defence.

Harry Maguire’s influence as a captain cannot be understated, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka has completely locked down that right-hand side. Suddenly, ‘The Spider’ is being talked about as being amongst the best right-backs in the world, and rightly so.

The praise has been further heaped on the United star Wan-Bissaka, this time by his teammate Daniel James; who labelled the right-back as the ‘hardest’ defender he’s ever faced, it ‘obviously’ had to be him. Chelsea star Reece James is also namedropped by the Welshman.

‘For me it’s obviously got to be Aaron. I don’t think we’ve seen many players get past him,’ James replied when asked to name the ‘hardest’ defender he’s ever faced during a Combat Corona Twitch FIFA competition on Monday, transcribed by The Metro.

I think we all expected Wan-Bissaka to make a positive influence, but definitely not this much. The consistency in which he has played with is brilliant to see. Every week, you’re not getting less than a 7/10 from the former Crystal Palace man.

Locking down Raheem Sterling is no easy task. Wan-Bissaka has done it three times this season and he’s not the only major scalp our right-back has shut out. It’s the perfect formula in this day and age and first and foremost, he is a defender.

What I love most is that there is an obvious willingness to learn. Week-in-week-out it feels like Wan-Bissaka is improving his game in the final third and credit to him for that. Right now, though, this praise is only going to further boost Wan-Bissaka’s morale and confidence.
