Danny Murphy tips Man United to secure a top-four finish

Manchester United have been consistently inconsistent to start off the 2019/20 campaign. The good signs are there for Ole Gunnar Solskajer, but unfortunately, there are far too many gaping holes within this squad right now.

The 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace seriously hurt. Now, it’s about bouncing back and sending out a message to our top-four rivals.

Although it feels like United have already been written off by the majority of the footballing world, Match of the Day pundit, Danny Murphy, reckons we’ll ‘surprise a few’ and beat out competition from Arsenal and Chelsea to seal that last, all-important, Champions League place…

“I actually think fourth will go to Man United. I think Chelsea will do all right and Frank Lampard is a great appointment.” Murphy told The Mirror.

“But United have gone big in the market and the quality they have in the final third – I mean there is doom and gloom around them, but I think they’ll surprise a few.”

Murphy tips Liverpool to win the league this term while adding that Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will round off the top three, before Solskjaer’s United sneak in there at number four.

Honestly, I’d bite your hand off now if you offered us a fourth-placed finish. This team has lots to like about it – but there’s also plenty to dislike in equal measure.

Going forward, it’s about getting rid of the deadwood and continuing to put trust in the young, talented players that are on the books at Old Trafford. Personally, I’d like to see Solskjaer put a bit more trust in youth and hopefully, we’ll see some young lads in the mix when the Europa League kicks off next month.
