Danny Welbeck set for further spell on the sidelines

Danny Welbeck’s season started with a bang after scoring two goals against Swansea on the opening day of the Premier League, since then though, his season has gone downhill. He lost a bit of form in September, and shortly after the young striker has been sidelined with a knee problem. It has now been discovered that he may require surgery on that knee.

According to the Daily Mail, Danny Welbeck will miss a further five weeks of action if he does indeed require the surgery, which will rule him out until the New Year. The 22-year old has already had two operations on his knee, but remaining meniscus is apparently causing inflammation when he runs.

United have a few injury problems running through their squad at present, with Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini will all be missing for the next few weeks.
