David de Gea refuses to rule out low release clause in Manchester United contract

Manchester United have kept hold of David de Gea, and subsequently penned him down to a new long-term contract at Old Trafford. However after he made an outstanding performance for Spain last night, the keeper was quizzed about a potential £30m release clause in his contract.

“You should ask Jorge that question,” the 24-year-old said. “He is the one who pays attention to those sort of details.”

Manchester United have also refused to answer the question, and you feel that if there wasn’t some sort of clause in place then both parties would straight up deny the rumours at the source but obviously that isn’t the case.

I’d be extremely disappointed if the clause is as low as £30million, but at the end of the day David de Gea held all the cards and he probably would have refused any deal without that clause involved.
