David de Gea still hasn’t penned a new deal at Old Trafford despite their being less than eighteen months left on his current contract at the club, and many fans are getting agitated regarding the goalkeeper’s future. Today, many media outlets, including the Sunday Mirror, reckon Dave will force United’s hand.
They claim that David de Gea will in fact sign a new contract at the club, but one that has a release clause in, allowing any club to come in and meet that release clause to sign our #1 keeper.
Manchester United are preparing to make De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world by offering him a £200,000-a-week deal, but De Gea’s representatives are adamant any new deal must have that clause in place.
If that clause is indeed involved, hopefully it’ll be upwards of the £50million mark so it’ll ward off many potential buyers. We know its inevitable he will one day leave and make a return to his home country, but hopefully we can get a couple of years out of him before that happens.
