David de Gea transfer to Madrid ‘imminent’

Manchester United’s David de Gea still hasn’t penned a new deal at Old Trafford, and the Spaniard could be all set to play his last home game for the club against Arsenal this weekend if you believe reports in Spain.

The Spanish paper Sport say that De Gea’s transfer to Real Madrid is ‘imminent’. The 24-year old has grown massively as a player over the last few years at Manchester United, and losing him when he looks to be approaching the peak of his powers would be a real blow.

Its probably time for Louis van Gaal to start eyeing replacements though, just in case this news does turn out to be true. For me Petr Cech would be an ideal candidate. He has plenty of Premier League experience, would be fairly cheap and is the same age we signed Edwin Van Der Saar out, and that turned out wonderfully.

Its worth noting that Sport are a very hit and miss media outlet in Spain, so take this one with a pinch of salt for the time being.
