David de Gea will leave Man Utd in the summer if this condition isn’t met

Manchester United Football Club could be about to lose their key man in the form of David de Gea, if Louis van Gaal doesn’t guide his side to a place in the Champions League for next season. Just a few months after the Spaniard penned a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

The news comes from the Metro newspaper, who quote Fichajes, when they say that club officials at Manchester United are concerned that the club will not finish in the top four this season.

At this point in the campaign, United are two points off a place in the Champions League places, but the gap between fourth and ninth in the league table is just nine points, meaning a whole host of clubs are in the running as we enter the second half of the season.

Its now up to David de Gea and his teammates to keep Manchester United in the top four spots, because we’ve all seen what can happen if you miss out on playing in Europe’s premier tournament – just look at Liverpool.
