David de Gea will renew his Manchester United contract but still sign for Madrid

David de Gea must be distraught at the fact that his move to Real Madrid didn’t go through, but Manchester United have held onto one of their stars for at least one more season. According to Cope, Louis van Gaal could yet persuade the 25-year old to pen a new Old Trafford contract.

Juan Carlos Rivero, who works for the Spanish publication Cope said: “De Gea will end up in Real Madrid next year, although he’ll renew his contract with United.”

That means Manchester United should receive a decent fee for the Spaniard, and money which would be thoroughly deserved. De Gea has certainly been an outstanding professional during this whole saga, and it would show just how committed to the cause he is if he were to put pen to paper.

At the end of the day, we all know that David’s wish is to move to Real Madrid eventually. I think he’d go with the blessing of most Manchester United fans if he did sign a new deal, allowing the club to get a decent sum of money for his signature.
