Manchester United’s David de Gea saga has been rumbling on all summer, and it even began before the end of last season. We are now entering the final week of the transfer window, and for the last few weeks it has looked as though we’d get another season out of the talented Spaniard.
However, David de Gea’s agent has reassured the 25-year old that he will be in Madrid colours before the transfer window slams shut, claim the Daily Mail.
Jorge Mendes (De Gea’s agent) remains confident that he can lower Manchester United’s £33million asking price for the former Atletico Madrid man, and broker a deal around the £25million mark.
With just twelve months left on his deal the ball is firmly in the players court here. He could hang on for another season, give it his all and sign for Madrid on a free next summer whilst probably playing for Spain at next years Euros. Or he could try his best to force a move through this window, but he’d probably have to hand in a transfer request and refuse to play under Louis van Gaal – something I don’t see him doing.
