Manchester United Football Club have a whole host of world-class stars on their books at the moment, with Jose Mourinho slowly but surely moulding his squad into one that fits his style of play. Now, the new season is drawing close and the excitement is building.
Ahead of the new campaign, Dennis Irwin has been speaking to the media about the prospect of the season ahead for his former team, and the left-back has singled out one player in particular; Paul Pogba.
The 24-year-old Frenchman is going to be a ‘powerful’ player for the Red Devils this year, before adding that he expects Manchester United to challenge for the Premier League title.
“I expect Paul Pogba to be a really powerful player this year.” Dennis Irwin is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“I expect Manchester United to challenge for the title. More consistency is needed.”
“We drew too many [last season] and I think more goals are needed from different areas.”
Over the last twelve months, Pogba had a solid season, but there were plenty of occasions where he just didn’t turn up and at times that was infuriating. On the whole, though, Mourinho has to have been happy with the season.
The former most expensive player in the world has had an excellent pre-season, and if he carries that form into the Premier League then it’s going to be a vintage year for Manchester United and Pogba.
