Diogo Dalot drops hint about when he’ll make Manchester United debut: report

Manchester United Football Club made three first-team signings over the summer. Only one (Fred) has featured in the first-team to date.

However, the official United website suggests that Diogo Dalot, who arrived from FC Porto during the transfer window, has hinted at a first-team debut this weekend.

Their article all stems from a tweet that the 19-year-old posted, as he wrote ‘getting ready for Saturday’. Which is when the Old Trafford club takes on the unbeaten Watford in a crucial Premier League fixture.

We’re all keen to see Dalot in action. We’ve only really got a small sample size of his professional, top-level games. In fact, he’s only featured just six times.

He has played once for the U23s team. He looked commanding, quick, while showing a real willingness to bomb forward and help out in the attack. Dalot looked a cut above U23s football despite being nowhere close to full fitness. With that said, I’d much prefer to see us not rush him back, and let him slowly build up those levels before being thrown in at the deep end.

Personally, I think he could be on the bench in the upcoming games. Perhaps earning himself a start in the Carabao Cup against Derby County towards the month’s end.
