Diogo Dalot set to leave Man United this summer: report

Diogo Dalot looks set to leave Man United this summer, ahead of the 2020/21 term.

The story comes from O Jogo, translated by the Daily Mail. Apparently, Dalot has fallen out-of-favour at Old Trafford, while also consistently battling injuries hasn’t helped his case.

Now, the £50k-a-week (WFoot) United man is set for an exit this summer, although Dalot is attracting Premier League interest from Everton. Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly keen.

Having played 34 games in all competitions following his signing by Jose Mourinho in 2018, it looks as though the Portuguese is set to call time on his United career over the coming weeks.

The latest update we covered on Dalot came earlier in the month, as he suffered yet another injury setback. It always felt like that would be the writing on the wall and now it appears he’s played his last game for the Old Trafford club.

It’s a shame because he’s obviously a supremely-talented young man. However, availability is reliability. If Dalot cannot get himself out on that field for 30+ games-a-season, there’s absolutely no point in keeping him around.

You always got the impression that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was never completely sold on Dalot, hence why he sanctioned a big-money move to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Again, it’s another case of a Mourinho signing who just hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in Manchester.

What now for Dalot?

Everton and PSG interest tells you everything you need to know about his qualities. He’s not a bad player, but he’s not the right fit for United at this time.

I don’t doubt that wherever he ends up, Dalot will enjoy success. United are well within their rights to move him on, though, and hopefully they can profit on the £20million they paid to sign him from Porto a couple of years ago.
