Manchester United’s busy winter transfer window is continuing and doesn’t look like letting up anytime soon. Next out of the door is young Joe Rothwell, as he has left for Blackpool on loan until the end of the current season.
Rothwell, now 20, has been at the club since way back in 2001, and can certainly count himself as unfortunate to have not been given his first-team opportunity. The Manchester-born midfielder has always acquitted himself excellently at U21 level, controlling many games with his brilliant passing and superb footballing brain.
He hasn’t yet played a minute of action for United’s first-team, hence a loan move away as he seeks regular playing time and the opportunity to impress Louis van Gaal.
Blackpool is a good place for Rothwell to go. He’ll get those all-important minutes in a place not too far away from home, and hopefully he’ll be able to take his chance and show the Championship just exactly what he is capable of.
