Manchester United have tied down one of their hottest talents to a new long-term contract, putting rumours that he could leave the club on a free transfer firmly to bed. Pereira, 19, has put pen to paper on a deal that’ll keep him at United until 2018.
There were doubts that the talented Brazilian would sign a new deal in favour of following Paul Pogba’s footsteps to Juventus on the cheap, but its great that he has signed and he obviously has a bright future in the game.
Upon signing his contract, Pereira said:
“I am pleased to have signed my new contract. I would like to thank the manager for giving me the opportunity to join the first-team squad. I made my Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur and to play at Old Trafford in front of so many fans was a dream come true.
“I am at the right club to continue my development as a player and to learn as much as I can. I want to thank my family and God for the opportunity he has given me.”
Hopefully we’ll see more of him on the pre-season tour come the summer, and he may even push for a spot in the bench and a chance in the cup games when next season comes around.
