Manchester United have finally confirmed the sale of Angel di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain, for a fee in the region of £45million – a £15million loss on the 27-year old Argentine who spent less than twelve months at Old Trafford after leaving Real Madrid.
Whilst its a shame to see a player of his calibre abandon Manchester United, the club only wants those who want to be here, so it was most certainly the right decision to let the winger leave.
At the end of the day when push came to shove Di Maria didn’t have the mental toughness to stick it out and work harder to succeed in England, and the majority of Manchester United fans will feel that he will not be missed as we go into the 2015/16 season which gets underway this weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.
