Manchester United Football Club have confirmed that Joel Pereira has left Old Trafford on a loan deal.
The club tweeted the news late last night, with the young shot-stopper heading to Vitoria Setubal for the next twelve months.
It always looked likely that Pereira would be heading out for the campaign, particularly when a deal for veteran Lee Grant was sealed. Now, it gives the man from Portugal the perfect opportunity to get regular, first-team football under his belt; which is absolutely vital for his development and growth.
All the best, Joel!

Pereira has had an excellent pre-season tour with United, splitting playing time with the aforementioned Grant. It’s easy to see why Mourinho likes the goalkeeper, whom could well be the long-term successor to a certain David de Gea…
For now, it’s about learning your trade through starting every week. Setubal give him the perfect opportunity to do exactly that, it’ll also give him some extra motivation to ensure that he succeeds at Old Trafford; as the step down in close will be extremely easy to take note of.
Hopefully, in a year’s time we’ve got a miles better player on our hands, who knows, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as the back-up going into 2019/20.
