James Wilson has joined Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Manchester United’s official website.
The 22-year-old striker burst onto the scene way over three years ago now, scoring two goals on debut against Hull City at Old Trafford.
However, since then, injuries have plagued his career and that has led to a return to Manchester United’s U23s side – for whom he is the top scorer this season.
We all know Wilson should be playing at a higher level than that, though, and Sheffield United present him with an excellent opportunity to prove his worth to manager Jose Mourinho.
The Championship is a notoriously difficult league to succeed in, and it’ll definitely test the young forward both physically and mentally. I guess the most important thing for him right now is to stay fit and get used to playing regular football every weekend.
I wish him all the best. Who knows, if it goes well for him, he could well earn a spot on United’s pre-season tour for the 2018/19 campaign, because I still feel he’s talented enough to play a part at Old Trafford.
All the best, James!
