Manchester United are often a club recognised for their abilities to promote youth players through the ranks and give youngsters a chance on the biggest stage. They are also a side who make excellent use of the loan system, and thats in effect once again.
Louis van Gaal has chosen to send the young goalkeeper, Joel Castro Pereira, to Rochdale on a second loan spell. The deal will last until the 1st January, allowing him to get some regular playing time under his belt.
This is without doubt the best thing for the young man at this point in time. He is probably fourth or fifth in the pecking order at Manchester United, and in order to further his career he needs to be playing competitive football – Rochdale can certainly offer him that in the short term, and thats only a good thing.
