Donny van de Beek has taken to social media to send a message to the Manchester United fans after signing for the Old Trafford club.
Edward Woodward didn’t hang around to sort out this transfer, and fair play to him for keeping it under wraps. Not one journalist was on top of this one until the deal was pretty much sealed and confirmed yesterday.
Now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some more depth in a key area of the field. Donny van de Beek brings exceptional quality to the table, while offering a different dimension to the other central players who are already at the club.
It seems as though Van de Beek is looking forward to the prospect of playing for the biggest club in the country, too…
After completing the transfer, an ‘excited’ Van de Beek took to social media to send a message to the United fans.
Check out his Tweet here:
As he says, Van de Beek has to complete international duty with his native Netherlands first. They take on Poland tomorrow evening, which is the first chance we’ll have to see our new man in action. After that comes an intriguing tie against Italy on Monday.
Then, the hard work at United will start for Van de Beek. He could make his debut against Crystal Palace on September 19th – though with less than a fortnight to train and get to know his new teammates, I would predict he could start that one as a substitute.
Either way, the excitement is building amongst the fans and rightly so. We’ve stolen an absolute gem of a footballer at a great price. I, for one, cannot wait to see him in action.
Hopefully, he can come through international duty feeling fit and fresh, before hitting the ground running at the Theatre of Dreams.
