Dutch club Ajax are doing everything possible to try and re-sign Daley Blind this summer.
That’s come directly from the horse’s mouth, too; their manager, Erik ten Hag, per the Independent.
“We are doing everything, but it also depends on other parties,” Hag said.
Blind’s versatility has always been his biggest selling point, but I think it’s criminal that he was used most as a centre-half or a left-back. His best position, by far is in that holding midfield role. Some of his best performances for the Red Devils came in that position during his debut season, as he pulled the strings, and also did a job defensively due to his excellent positional sense.
Jose Mourinho is a manager whom Blind doesn’t suit playing for. The self-proclaimed Special One loves tall, physical footballers, that’s just not the Dutchman’s game.
At this point in time, it’s probably best for all involved to ship him on and get some sort of transfer fee for him while Blind still has some value. He’s a great player, no doubt a return back to his homeland will reward him with trophies aplenty. Let’s get this deal pushed through before pre-season tour kicks off, giving us ample time to sort out a replacement.
