Arguably, Manchester United’s most important game of the season so far takes place this weekend. Jose Mourinho’s men head South to take on an Arsenal side who are in great form themselves.
Ahead of that match, as per usual, the Manchester Evening News have provided us with a list of players who arrived at the team hotel. The squad contains all the regular faces, including Paul Pogba, David de Gea and Romelu Lukaku.
However, it’s the absentees that have us wondering exactly what Mourinho is up to. There is no Henrikh Mkhitaryan or Zlatan Ibrahimovic with the rest of the squad, which is concerning, particularly in Ibrahimovic’s case.
On top of that, Luke Shaw has travelled with the lads, despite the fact that he has barely played recently, and, let’s be honest, he’s looked less than convincing when he has taken to the field.
That probably means that Lukaku is a shoe-in to start up front, probably alongside Anthony Martial in a 5-3-2 system, similar to the one that was deployed against Watford on Tuesday night.
I don’t want to say this is a must win so early on, but you feel as though City won’t be dropping many points from here on out, so we need all the victories we can get, however we can get them…
