Manchester United have won two huge games recently, getting victories against both Chelsea and Liverpool, that has made them serious favourites for a spot in the top four.
Now, attentions turn towards the cup competitions, starting with the Champions League when Sevilla visit Old Trafford later today. Jose Mourinho has always had a love affair with European competition, and you’d fully expect the Red Devils to do quite well this time around, too.
Ahead of the match, the Manchester Evening News have clearly been doing their homework, as they’ve named a training squad that is likely going to be the players that’ll be involved at the Theatre of Dreams tonight.
Included was the usual suspects like David de Gea, Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. However, there was also places in the squad for both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial, who look to have recovered in time to feature (at least as a substitute).
There were some notable absentees, though. Paul Pogba didn’t train, neither did Ander Herrera, Phil Jones or Marcus Rashford. That could leave United incredibly thin, particularly in the midfield.
United’s training squad list in full (per the Manchester Evening News):
Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira
Defenders: Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young
Midfielders: Scott McTominay, Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Michael Carrick
Forwards: Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata
