England to closely monitor Rashford’s fitness ahead of EURO 2020 qualifiers: report

Manchester United’s recent injury struggles have been well documented. The Reds have been missing several key players during some huge Premier League clashes of late – though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping the international break could bring some welcome relief in that regard.

One man amongst those who has been nursing problems is Marcus Rashford. The United and England forward has been struggling with a groin problem, and according to the Daily Mail, the 21-year-old’s fitness will be ‘closely monitored’ during international duty.

Apparently, the forward is ready to declare himself fully fit, but wasn’t expected to return to full training today – despite starting in United’s last two Premier League games.

I’m always worried when players who aren’t 100% head off to play for their country. More often than not, they’re needlessly risked and often come back in a worse state than when they went in.

Thankfully, though, it seems as if Gareth Southgate and his medical team will be keeping a close eye on Rashford over the next fortnight. It’s not as if he’ll be needed for England’s two EURO 2020 qualifiers, but we have to view it as a positive that he is available for selection – which suggests that the injury isn’t too bad…
