Well, we’ve been patiently waiting for some Eric Bailly injury news. Now, the Ivorian has offered us all an update himself…
At the time, it looked a nasty head clash. It was made even worse due to the fact that Bailly had already been involved in a collision with another player just five minutes earlier.
Fans, players and staff members were all understandably concerned. Perhaps it led to a lack of concentration with Chelsea taking the lead shortly after, but we’ll never really know if that was the case.
What’s most important is Bailly’s health. He left the field in a neck brace and would head straight to hospital. Now, less than 24 hours after suffering the injury, the centre-back sends an injury update to United fans following the nasty head clash. He took to Twitter to let us all know how he’s doing.
Thankfully, he’s feeling ‘ok’ before admitting that it was just a scare. Whether this means he’s fit and raring to go for the West Ham United game on Wednesday remains to be seen.
What’s the plan going forward?
I would imagine United will approach this in exactly the same manner in which they did with Brandon Williams just a week ago. He was given a game off to get back in the right frame of mind, while his nasty cut was afforded a few extra days to heal up.
Bailly is a tough lad. He’s had pretty unfortunate injury luck but there’s definitely a player in there somewhere. Who knows, he could be the long-term answer at centre-back alongside Harry Maguire.
Hopefully, Bailly is feeling good. Concussion is the worst thing and if he hasn’t got one of those, he should be ready sooner rather than later.
Get well soon, Eric!
