Eric Bailly to miss start of Premier League season, out for six weeks: report

Manchester United’s Eric Bailly suffered yet another injury this week, with the Ivorian limping out of the Red Devils’ pre-season game against Tottenham Hotspur with a knee problem.

After arriving back in Manchester in a wheelchair, the immediate fears were that he’d suffered ligament damage and his season may well have been over before it began.

Well, according to ESPN, those fears have been eased somewhat, although the 25-year-old will miss the start of the Premier League season as he’ll be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.

Apparently, a scan on Friday highlighted the need for minor surgery, and although it’s a blow to lose Bailly, at least we’ll see him again at some point this season.

I’m starting to feel sorry for the ex-Villareal man. Right now he just cannot catch a break on the injury front. All he needs is a good six-month spell of football without any problems, although that’s easier said than done.

Hopefully, Bailly can remain in a positive frame of mind, recover quickly and get back out onto the football field as soon as possible.

Another silver lining could well be the fact that Edward Woodward is forced into making another move for Harry Maguire – who would obviously be a huge addition to the squad.
