Ex-United manager David Moyes backs his decision to sign Marouane Fellaini

David Moyes’ reign as Manchester United manager was never destined to be a successful one from the word go. He made a last-ditch effort to sign Marouane Fellaini for £4million more than we could have got him for just weeks earlier, and the big Belgian didn’t impress in United colours once last season.

However this year, he has hit the ground running and been displaying some excellent form. David Moyes has spoken out about his decision to sign Fellaini, and backed the time spent on bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford.

Moyes on Fellaini: “He’s a damn fine footballer who was definitely worth the effort as well as the money.”

The odd thing is that he’s only shown the kind of form we all thought he could do since David Moyes left the club. He scored a last minute winner against Valencia in pre-season before his injury, and upon his return he has been United’s best player over the past two matches.

Fellaini is a shoe-in to start in the Manchester derby, and he’ll have to be just as physical against the likes of Yaya Toure and Fernandinho.
