Facundo Pellistri was the surprise deadline day signing for Manchester United and he’s been spotted sporting club gear for the first time.
The Uruguayan Pellistri followed his countryman, Edinson Cavani, to Old Trafford last week. Now, he’s ready to make his impact at the Theatre of Dreams.
Pellistri was given the number twenty-eight jersey by Manchester United, which hints that he may well have a first-team role sooner than we all think. I guess the lack of wide-depth in Manchester certainly plays into his hands.
What remains to be seen is how well Pellistri adapts to life in his new surroundings. He’ll have to make the adjustment quickly, though, if he wants to win Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s trust this term.
Well, Pellistri is already in Manchester. Now, we’ve been given a glimpse of the young man wearing Reds gear for the first time. He was snapped donning some training-wear, along with the caption ‘let’s go reds’.
The young man gives off the impression that he has the correct mentality to enjoy success at the highest level. However, a good start is absolutely vital, while it’s down to the coaches to recognise when he is ready for that first-team chance.

The good news is that Cavani, his countryman, is experienced and will be more than willing to offer a helping hand. I don’t doubt that Diego Forlan is only a phone call away, too.
My only real concern is the fact that he’s going to be thrust into the spotlight too soon. Manchester United is an absolute pressure-cooker for anyone, let alone a young man who has barely played first-team football.
In an ideal world, Pellistri would be loaned out for a season in order to gain confidence and play regularly. However, United having limited options in his position means he’ll more than likely be kept around.
It seems as though he’s relishing the opportunity, though, and he’s ready to work.
