Jose Mourinho has already gone about moulding the squad considerably in the one transfer window he has been in charge. The new gaffer added the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the squad, but it’s clear his work has only just begun.
Now, reports coming out of The Sun say that Manchester United will send scouts to a high-profile Champions League match this midweek. The game? Real Madrid against Sporting Lisbson; where Gelson Martins will be the number one priority.
The winger is making a real name for himself out in Portugal, having amassed fourteen appearances already this season, despite just being twenty-one years of age. They’ll be extremely stiff competition for his signature however, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich all expected to have representatives keeping tabs on Martins.
As always, they’ll be a gamble if United do make the move to try and sign the youngster. Look at how Memphis Depay has turned out, and on the flip side of that you have Anthony Martial who has been a huge success.
