Former Man Utd boss David Moyes labels some reds ‘overweight’

Manchester United slumped to their worst season in over two decades under David Moyes last year, as the Scot was eventually sacked back in April after an awful debut season at Old Trafford. Today David Moyes has revealed exactly why he banned chips at the club, and its a bit of an odd one.

“Yes, I did ban chips.” The former United manager said.

“It was because a couple of players were overweight and I didn’t think chips were good for their diet.” Moyes added.

Labelling professional footballers ‘overweight’ seems a bit bizarre, but as manager he’ll watch his players day-in day-out and get used to their habits and personal traits.

I can’t recall any players [besides Anderson] who was in the squad last season who looked a bit on the chubby side. Maybe Moyes is just looking for excuses? Who knows…
