Former manager admits Luke Shaw was crying during phone call

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw suffered a broken leg in last nights Champions League game, with the 20-year old looking likely to be out of action for at least six months. His former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has been in touch with Shaw to send him his concerns.

“I spoke with him this morning,” said Pochettino. “He’s much better today but it is always difficult when you have that type of injury. I gave my support and wish him a speedy recovery.”

When asked what Shaw said to him, Pochettino added: “It’s difficult because he was crying. You can understand that after the big injury. Not only for the pain but everything around the situation.

“I feel very sorry for him. It was a big impact for me and I watched the moment it happened.

“I was sick after the action. My relationship with him was close and it is difficult,” said Pochettino.

Its really horrible what happened to Shaw, and honestly I still don’t think it has sunk in yet. His season is done far too early, and you’d have to think it may be tough for him to recover from this fully.
