Manchester United new signing Fred didn’t train with Brazil on Friday, as the World Cup favourites prepare for a friendly game against Austria.
That’s according to ESPN, who adds that the 25-year-old suffered an ankle injury in training on Thursday. While the rest of his compatriots were training, Fred was working alone with the team doctor; presumably to get himself right for the big tournament in Russia; which is now just five days away.
It’s just pure rotten luck that the midfielder picked up an injury in such cynical manner right before a major tournament, but hopefully, he’ll be fit enough to take part when Brazil’s first game rolls around.
At this point in time, it’s unlikely that he’ll take to the field against Austria tomorrow, so us Red Devils fans may have to wait a little longer to see the former Shakhtar Donetsk man in action.
After agreeing a £47million deal to sign Fred, United’s midfield has significantly strengthened. In a trio alongside the powerhouse Nemanja Matic and the classy Paul Pogba, we’re looking much better in such a key area of the field, and I cannot wait for the 2018/19 season to get underway.
