From Di Marzio: Manchester United have reached agreement with 24-year-old

Manchester United Football Club has reached an agreement with Alvaro Morata, according to the usually reliable Gianluca Di Marzio. The Italian journalist is claiming that the Red Devils now just have to sort out a transfer fee with Real Madrid, then a deal should be complete.

It comes as no secret that the Old Trafford club have been pretty desperate to bring in a new striker during this window. Jose Mourinho has to find a new striker, following the news that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract will not be renewed.

Morata, who had seen a significant reduction in playing time with Madrid last season is seemingly keen on finding regular playing time elsewhere, and that could well lead to a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

The Spaniard found the back of the net 20 times last season, without really getting a regular run in the side. However, earning a spot in the starting XI was never going to be easy when you have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in front of you.

I guess now it’s down to the two clubs to sort out a transfer fee that suits all the involved parties. Madrid will undoubtedly drag their feet as they are probably slightly upset at losing a player of Morata’s calibre, so this one could take a while to complete…
