From Portugal: Victor Lindelof already given Manchester United shirt number

Manchester United Football Club have certainly changed their fortunes around throughout the month of December, with Jose Mourinho’s men finally putting in the performances we know they are capable of. With the January transfer window just around the corner, more moves could yet be made.

According to Portuguese media outlet RTP, a £38million deal to bring SL Benfica’s Victor Lindelof to Old Trafford is already in place, and the Swedish centre-back has been handed the #2 jersey at the Theatre of Dreams.

The number two is another one of those famous shirts worn by legends of the club like Gary Neville, and Lindelof certainly has big boots to fill if this information is accurate.

Lindelof, like Eric Bailly, is a player that we really do not know an awful lot about at this point in time, but you simply have to trust Jose Mourinho wholeheartedly after signing four stellar players in the summer.

The deal is obviously not done yet as the transfer window doesn’t even open for just under another week, but it does feel as though Manchester United are trying to bring in another centre-back.

Whether that’s down to the fact that Jose doesn’t trust the options he currently has remains to be seen, but with Daley Blind, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo all in the squad – you’d imagine at least one of them could be on the way out.
