From Sky: Manchester United agree £21.7m fee as 22-year-old prepares Old Trafford exit

Manchester United Football Club seems to be raking in the cash for unwanted players at the moment, with Jose Mourinho trimming down his squad before the window slams shut. This next deal could be a big one, with another rather sizeable transfer fee.

The player in question is Memphis Depay, with the 22-year-old looking all set for an exit during this transfer one. Now Sky Sports News have pretty much confirmed that, as they report Lyon have agreed to sign the Dutchman in a deal where the fee could rise up to £21.7million.

It’s fair to say that Depay’s time at Old Trafford has just gone downhill. He started off playing well and shown some promise under Louis van Gaal, but that changed rather quickly. This season has been nothing short of a disaster if we’re being brutally honest, and that’s a real shame.

I personally hope that Memphis does get this move away from the Theatre of Dreams, because it will give him a new lease of life; and hopefully, the confidence starts flowing again.

There is no doubting his abilities as a player. It just hasn’t worked out for him here for one reason or another, and now it feels as though there is no coming back for him at Manchester United.
