From Sky Sports: Manchester United icon expected to leave Old Trafford this summer

Old Trafford and Manchester United Football Club has played host to many-a-legend down the years. The Theatre of Dreams has paid homage to the likes of Ryan Giggs, Sir Bobby Charlton and Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, it looks as though another absolute icon of the club is set to leave.

That’s according to Sky Sports News, who say that Wayne Rooney, 31, is likely to leave Manchester, just a couple of days after hoisting the Europa League trophy as our captain.

Rooney has won absolutely everything there is in the European game, and it has been a tremendous privilege and honour to watch him play over the last decade or so. However, this season, it has been sad witnessing such a dramatic downfall.

His touch has completely deserted him, his finishing has looked desperate, and pace? Well, he no longer has any. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no room for sentiment in football and now is as good of a time as any to move on the man from Croxteth.

Sky Sports go on to say that the forward wants to be playing regular football which is perfectly understandable, and he is weighing up options from within the Premier League, although the only other club in this country he’d be interested in joining is Everton.
